READING, Pa. -- Facing its fourth consecutive undefeated team the Albright College football team will travel to Doylestown, Pa., on Saturday (Oct. 4) to face Delaware Valley in a Middle Atlantic Conference game at 1 p.m. at James Work Memorial Stadium.
Albright enters the contest seeking its first conference win of the season after facing one of the more demanding schedules in the country through the first four weeks of the season. The Lions opened the season with a victory at Kean and have since faced No. 25 Lycoming, No. 21 Widener and undefeated Stevenson in successive weeks.
Albright, which is currently 1-3 on the season, turned in an outstanding defensive performance in its last game against Stevenson. The Lions limited Stevenson to just 146 yards of total offense and allowed the only touchdown of the day following an Albright fumble on its own 4-yard line.
If the Lions are to post their first conference win of the season it likely will take another solid performance from the Albright defensive unit.
Delaware Valley enters the game with a 3-0 overall record and a 2-0 mark in conference play and is one of the highest scoring teams in the nation. The Aggies are currently ranked eighth in the nation scoring 47.7 points per game and are averaging over 500 yards of offense per outing.
The Lions offense has had an up and down first four weeks of the season. Albright scored 25 points in the opener only to be shutout by Lycoming in the second game of the season. The Lions then scored 23 points at Widener followed by being limited to just six points against Stevenson.
Patrick Wise has started at quarterback in the last two games for Albright and is 41-75 for 375 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Ryan Wade started the first two games of the season and is 11-30 for 139 yards.
Dwayne Randall has been the Lions top ball carrier on the season as he has 115 yards, while
Vinny Williams leads the receiving corps with 16 catches for 223 yards.
Junior
Steve Barroso was named the MAC Defensive Player of the Week and the ECAC Southeast Defensive Player of the Week after recording 13 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 4.0 tackles for loss against Stevenson. Barroso currently leads the Lions with 32 tackles, while
Colton Ryan is second on the team with 28.
The game will be broadcast live by the Voice of the Lions Bob McCool on
Livestream.
