Baseball Improves to 2-0 on Spring Break

Box Score

Albright baseball continued to stay hot in Florida, defeating Centenary 11-3 Sunday night in Fort Pierce.

Two misplayed balls in left field led to Centenary taking an early 2-0 lead, but the Lions quickly answered with two of their own on three straight singles from Gabe Santone, Zac Okonski, and Evan High in the next frame.

High and Max Dundore led off the fourth with back to back singles. Catcher Zachary Kiebler tried bunting the runners over, but the third baseman couldn't handle the ball, loading the bases. Shortstop Brandon Triantos grounded out to third to give Albright a 3-2 lead.

Senior Nate Peiffer singled to plate Dundore and advanced to second on the throw home. Peter DeFrancisci followed that with a sac fly to bring in Kiebler and put the Lions up three.

Centenary scored again in the sixth to cut the lead to two, but Albright would plate six runs in the last three innings to seal the victory.

Freshman William Nicoletto earned the victory for the Lions in his first collegiate start.

The Lions are 2-0 to start the season and will open conference play with a double header against Messiah tomorrow afternoon, as they continue their spring trip in the Sunshine State.
