The Albright College baseball team had the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth but couldn't get them in, losing 9-8 to Messiah in game three of a Commonwealth series being played in Ft. Pierce, Fla.
Junior
Max Dundore continued his spring break hot streak, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Classmate
John Medvecky was 1-for-3 with four RBIs and a run scored. Another junior,
Evan High, was 2-for-5 and scored twice.
Freshman
Daniel Louviaux made his first collegiate start, taking a no-decision after allowing four earned runs and striking out four in 5.1 innings of work.
Trailing 9-8 in their final at-bat,
Zac Okonski and
Gabe Santone each singled. After Okonski was thrown out at third on a fielder's choice, Dundore singled to load the bases with two out, and one run walked home. Unfortunately, a called third strike on
Zachary Kiebler ended the comeback attempt.
The Lions had led 7-6 after scoring three runs in the sixth. Medvecky and
Nate Peiffer each had RBI singles in the stanza.
Messiah took the lead in the eighth, on a two-run double from
Ben Sollenberger. Sollenger also had an RBI triple earlier in the contest.
Albright is 3-2, 1-2 Commonwealth, and will play Western Connecticut State in a doubleheader tomorrow.
