Baseball Rebounds With Crucial Conference Sweep

Game One Box Score
Game Two Box Score

Following a loss to Elizabethtown, the Albright College baseball team rebounded to claim victory in both games of a doubleheader against conference foe Arcadia University today.

Arcadia drew first blood in game one as Jay Zehring doubled off Alex Myers, knocking in Tom Wagner to give the Knights the 1-0 lead.

The Lions tied the game up in the bottom half of the second inning on a John Medvecky single, scoring Max Dundore, who had started the inning with a base hit.

Albright added to their lead in the third, scoring three runs in the inning, two of which coming off of a Dylan Boll triple to right field. Junior Gabe Santone later capitalized on a sacrifice fly, scoring Boll, to give the Lions a 4-1 lead.

After scoring one run in the fifth inning, Arcadia was able to tie the ballgame in the sixth off of two hits and an error, but Freshman Trevor Mastria entered the game in relief and stopped the bleeding.

With the game tied 4-4, Boll led off the seventh with a single and pinch runner Nathan Fretz stole second base to give the Lions a runner in scoring position. After advancing Fretz to third base on a Santone foul out, the Lions won the game on a Zac Okonski sacrifice fly to left field.

On the mound for the Lions, Myers pitched five solid innings keeping the team in the game and Mastria earned the win.

Albright carried their momentum into game two, as the Lions put themselves on the board first in the second inning, scoring two runs on a Santone single up the middle.

These initial runs proved crucial as they held on to a 2-1 victory behind a strong pitching performance by freshman Daniel Louviaux. Louviaux threw a stellar 4.1 innings, giving up only one run, and paved the way for Trey Eberly to earn the save.

Today's victories improve Albright's record to 6-7, 4-5, while Arcadia drops to 3-17, 2-9. The Lions will have an opportunity to sweep the series tomorrow at 3 p.m. in Glenside, Pa.
