Box ScoreA six-run fourth inning helped the Albright College baseball team to a series sweep of Arcadia, with a 9-7 victory on Sunday in Philadelphia.
Junior
John Medvecky was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Senior
Nate Peiffer was 3-for-6 while scoring once and knocking in a run.
Collin Hecker and
Brandon Triantos each went 2-for-4 at the plate with a walk, an RBI and a run scored apiece.
Evan High tripled and scored twice.
Albright's big rally came in the top of the fourth inning, with the Lions scoring six times on seven hits. Triantos knocked in High, and then scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-1 after Peiffer had brought home Medvecky. The Red and White kept it going with RBI singles from
Dylan Boll,
Gabe Santone and
Zac Okonski.
The Knights cut the deficit to 7-5 with four in the seventh, but Albright added insurance in the top of the ninth. High tripled and came home on Medvecky's single up the middle. Hecker later brought Medvecky in for a 9-5 Lion lead.
Arcadia made it interesting with a pair of unearned runs in their final chance.
Justin Chasmar reached on an error and scored on a passed ball after
Tom Wagner had come around on a sacrifice fly.
Trevor Mastria struck out
Dan Shiramizu, representing the tying run, to end the game.
Junior
Jared Neiheiser pitched another solid outing and finally earned his first win decision of the season, striking out five and allowing two earned runs in six innings of work.
Albright (7-7, 5-5) climbs to .500 in both the conference and overall competition, and will travel to Moravian on Tuesday for a non-conference game.
