READING, Pa. - Sophomore Ken Richardson raced to three individual victories, and was a part of the winning 200-yard medley relay squad, to lead the Albright men's swimming team to 139-122 Middle Atlantic Conference victory over visiting Misericordia Saturday afternoon inside the Albright Natatorium.

Mitch Cain, Matt Runtas, Rick Sutton, Alex Bauer and Tyler Huizing also registered victories for the Lions (6-2-1, 6-1-1 MAC), who outlasted the Cougars (4-3,3-2 MAC) in a hotly contested meet despite two wins each for Joseph Gzrech and Pat O'Dell.

Richardson, who is undefeated in his sophomore season, narrowly missed breaking the pool record that he set in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing in 2:14.83, just a tenth of a second behind the 2:14.73 he swam last Saturday to set the standard. His win in the 100-yard breaststroke in was in a time of 1:00.41 and he touched the wall in 2:03.08 for the 200-yard individual medley victory.

Rick Sutton won the 500-yard freestyle in 4:52.60 and was the runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle in 148.37. Huizing captured the top spot in the 1000-yard freestyle touching the wall in 10:36.84, while Mitch Cain secured the win in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:03.85.

Runtas raced to the crown in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 21.81 defeating teammate Alex Bauer by .03 seconds. Bauer, who touched first a week ago, finished in 21.84.

Bauer was the winner in the 100-yard butterfly finishing in 53.79, while Cain took third in 55.54 and Runtas was fourth in 55.56.

Sean Yuschovitz raced to the runner-up spot in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:09.49 and Drew Leahy was third in the 100-yard backstroke in 59.88.

The 200-yard medley relay team consisting of Bauer, Sutton, Richardson and Leahy opened the meet with a victory in 1:38.73.

The Lions return to action next Saturday (Jan. 17) when they host King's College at 1 p.m., for senior day in the final home meet of the season.
