READING, Pa. -- Albright sophomore
Claudia Guise had a double-double with 24 assists and 11 digs, but Goucher rallied from a first-set deficit to defeat the Lions 23-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-15 on Tuesday in the Bollman Center.
For Guise, it marked her team-leading seventh double-double of the season. She also had three kills, two service aces and two blocks.
Albright, which dropped to 3-14 on the season, also received a team-high 10 kills from sophomore
Maddy Greth and eight kills each from
Katie Schmerse and
Victoria Wainwright.
Freshman
Becca Davis added a team-high 22 digs, while Guise had 11 and Greth added 10 as she also posted a double-double for the match. With her 22 digs, Davis extended her string of double-figure dig matches to nine straight.
Wainwright led a strong blocking performance by the Lions as she had four blocks, while
Jenelle Headed,
Nicole Vazquez and Guise each finished with two blocks.
Goucher was led by the one-two combination of Michelle Tweedie and Hannah Kuehl. Tweedie finished with a match-high 17 kills, while Kuehl finished with 16 kills.
Sarah Johnson finished with a double-double for the Gophers as she recorded 38 assists and 10 digs. Meredith Johnson recorded a match-high 26 digs to pace the Gopher defensive effort.
Albright continues its current homestand as the Lions will face Gwynedd-Mercy on Friday (Oct. 16) at 6 p.m. in the Bollman Center.
