GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Albright volleyball team made short work of two opponents on Friday night at the Arcadia Tournament. The Lions swept Misericordia before sweeping Brooklyn.
Against Misericordia, the Lions hit .300 while holding its opposition to .061. In the first set, Albright hit .375 to Misericordia's -.036.
Victoria Wainwright led the offense with 11 kills, and
Maddy Greth came one kill away from recording a double-double. She finished with 15 digs and nine kills.
Morgan Puller had five aces, and
Claudia Guise had 25 assists.
Albright won the match 25-18, 25-19 and 25-23. The Lions took control of game one with an early 7-0 run to take an 8-2 lead thanks to three kills by
Cheyenne Robinett. After a 6-0 run in game two to put the set into Albright's favor, the Lions used a pair of 6-0 runs in the third game to register the sweep. Kills by Greth and Guise late in the set held off Misericordia's attempt to extend the match.
Albright swept Brooklyn with scores of 25-13, 25-22 and 25-17. Greth led the offense with 15 kills. Guise had 28 assists while Davis had 13 digs. Puller added four more aces in the second match. The Lions held Brooklyn to -.167 hitting in the first set and .090 for the match.
Albright has now won five its last six matches, all 3-0 sweeps. The Lions return to action Saturday against Rutgers-Camden at 10 a.m. before finishing the weekend against Keystone at noon.
