Volleyball Splits Final Two Matches of Arcadia Tournament

GLENSIDE, Pa- Albright's women volleyball team wrapped up the Arcadia Tournament Saturday by splitting its two matches. The Lions defeated Rutgers-Camden, while falling to Keystone College. Overall, the Lions went 3-1 to improve to 8-13 on the season.

Maddy Greth and Claudia Guise teamed up to lead the Lions to its third straight victory when the Lions faced off against the Raptors of Rutgers University-Camden (14-13) in the team's first match of the day. Albright defeated the Raptors 3-1 with scores of 25-19, 18-25, 25-12, 25-22.

The Lions leaned on its hitting to carry the team throughout the match, which included a sizzling .371 attack percentage in the third set. Outside hitter Greth recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 15 digs, while middle hitter Victoria tied her teammate by also notching a match-high 13 kills. Guise guided the team as the junior setter recorded a whopping 44 assists.

Minus the second set, the Raptors struggled to find a rhythm against Albright cumulating a .090 attack percentage for the match. Albright kept Rutgers-Camden at bay in the third set by stifling the Raptors' offense. The Lions pounced on its opponent throughout the set from jumping out to a 15-5 lead and by forcing the Raptors to a .000 attack percentage. Libero Becca Davis also continued to show her defensive prowess adding 15 digs to silence her opponent's game plan.

Albright concluded its tournament play Saturday afternoon when they took on the Giants of Keystone College (12-9). The Lions battled but eventually fell 19-25, 25-19, 14-25, 23-25 to Keystone. While the offense struggled in the team's second match of the day, the defense remained top-tier and tallied two more digs than the Giants. Davis finished with a team-high 27 digs, while Guise and Greth added 16 digs apiece.

On top of 16 digs, Greth recorded her second double-double of the day as the senior led the team with 12 kills. Wainwright and Shaniyah Taylor added 10 and 5 kills, respectively.

After stellar performances, Greth and Davis were the only Lions selected to the All-Tournament team.

The season continues for the Lions on Wednesday when Albright hosts conference opponent, Hood College. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. at the Bollman Center.
