WILKES-BARRE, Pa- The Albright College women's swimming team suffered its first loss of the season Saturday afternoon when the Lions fell 168-94 to Widener University. The Lions are now 2-1 on the season.
Freshman
Julia Wadding earned first place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.82 and won the 200 backstroke with a 2:15.38 pace.
Tara McCloskey also finished atop the podium for the Lions as the freshman defeated her competition in the 100 backstroke. The sophomore earned top honors finishing the race in 1:12.16.
The final Lion to earn a first-place finish was freshman
Ashlyn Chermol, who beat out two Widener opponents in the 100 butterfly. Chermol completed the race in 1:00.85, which was three seconds faster than the nearest competitor.
All three top swimmers for Albright also came in second place in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. Wadding, McCloskey, and Chermol along with
Alexis Willis finished four hundredths of a second behind first-place.
The Lions return to the pool on Saturday hosting Arcadia University at 1 p.m. for its second home dual meet of the season.
