READING, Pa. – The Albright women's volleyball team lost both ends of a tri-match at Penn State Berks Monday night, falling to Marywood 3-0 in the opener before dropping a 3-1 decision to the host team in the nightcap.
The Lions (2-5) lost a tight game one of the opening match against Marywood (3-11) by a score of 29-27. The Pacers used the momentum from taking game one to take game two 25-20, then closed out the match with a 25-15 win in game three. Senior
Maddy Greth led Albright with eight kills in the match, followed by junior
Kellie Hill with seven. Junior setter
Claudia Guise had 27 assists for the Lions, while freshman
Michaela Curran totaled a team-high 19 digs.
Albright got off to a slow start against Penn State Berks (6-4), dropping game one 25-10. The Lions bounced back in game two, earning a 25-22 win to even the match at one game apiece. Penn State Berks won a tight game three 25-23, then captured game four 25-21 to take the match 3-1. Hill posted a match-high 15 kills for Albright, with sophomore
Katie Schmerse adding seven kills and Greth chipping in with six. Guise handed out 26 assists in the match and also led the Lions with four service aces. Curran again led Albright in digs with 19.
The Lions will be back in action Wednesday night when the travel to Chester, PA to take on Commonwealth Conference foe Widener University. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
