READING, Pa. – Senior
Ken Richardson won two individual events and added a relay victory to lead the Lions to a 134-118 win over Middle Atlantic Conference opponent Hood 134-118 on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon at the Albright Natatorium.
The Albright men's swimming team gifted its graduating seniors by opening the new year by edging out
Albright, which improved to 4-3 on the season, won eight of the 12 events before competing in the final two events as exhibition.
Richardson was the lone Lion for the men's swimming program to swim in his final home meet of the season, and did so by concluding with another successful meet. The senior captured the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke.
Richardson finished first in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:00.48, and then later captured the 200 breaststroke in 2:13.88. Richardson also swam a leg on the Lions victorious 200 medley relay team as well.
William Griffith led the Lions in a sweep of the 200 freestyle finishing first in a time of 1:53.09. P.J. Cieri touched the wall next for Albright in 1:56.21, while
Adam Thron completed the event in 1:57.96.
Maliq Williams and
Sean Riddle finished one-two in the 200 butterfly as Williams secured a win with his time of 2:06.78. Riddle finished right behind his teammate in 2:09.20.
Brendan Mackey-Wood captured the 100 freestyle in 49.98, while
Teag Culver emerged victorious in the 500 freestyle in 4:51.61.
Anthony Spanier led the way for the Lions in the team's sweep of the 100 butterfly as the freshman earned the win in 54.85. Williams completed the event next in 55.62, and
Jabril Thompson touched the wall in 58.98 to finish in third.
The Lions return to action next Saturday, January 10, when the team travels to Ursinus College for a 1 p.m. meet.
