READING, Pa. – Kellie Hill finished with eight kills to lead the Albright women's volleyball team, but Penn State Berks held the Lions to just .010 hitting for the match as it swept Albright in straight sets. Penn State Berks won 25-22, 25-16 and 25-5.
In the first set,
Morgan Puller scored an ace to help Albright pull to within 9-8. The Lions later used a 4-0 run to pull the score to within 16-15. Hill had a point to start that stretch.
Bryana Chambers added a kill to keep the score within a point at 21-20, and
Paige Westra scored the second of a two-point run as the Lions faced set point. Penn State Berks scored on the next play, though, to win 25-22.
The score was tied at nine in the second set, but Berks scored eight of the next nine points to take a 17-10 lead. Albright responded with four consecutive points to make it 17-14, but Berks again used a run of five straight scores to take control of the set.
In set three, Berks scored the first six points of the set and later led, 18-1, on its way to the set and match victory.
Puller and
Becca Davis led the Lions with 13 digs apiece. Westra added 10 digs.
Albright returns to MAC Commonwealth action next Wednesday at Hood at 7 p.m.
