Cullen Nets 100th Goal in Women’s Lacrosse Win

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Albright women's lacrosse senior Mariah Cullen netted her 100th career goal in the Lions' 15-9 victory at Lycoming on Wednesday afternoon. Cullen is the fourth Albright women's player to reach the milestone in the program's history.

Her goal came during an explosive first half for the Lions (5-4, 1-0). Albright scored seven straight goals as part of a 10-1 run in the first half to take an 11-3 lead at the break. Sophie Bass scored the first two and the final goal of that run for her fourth hat trick in her last five games. She finished the game with five goals and two assists.

Devon Mela and Patricia Horgan each had two goals during the run. Mela finished with four goals, her third game this season with at least four goals.

Lycoming only managed to get to within five goals in the second half after a goal made it 13-8 with 18:54 remaining. Kelly Baumann answered less than two minutes later to get the Lions back ahead by six.

Hayley Joyce finished with 13 saves, her second highest total of the season.

Cullen joins Amanda Smith, Erin Farrell and Meghan Wilson with at least 100 career goals.

Albright returns home Saturday to face Messiah at 1 p.m.
