READING, Pa. - The Albright Lions men's soccer team will play their first of four straight home games on their schedule tonight against the McDaniel Green Terror. This will be the third straight season the Lions will be facing the Green Terror as they have complied a 0-1-1 record against McDaniel. Albright lost 4-1 on the road last season after playing to a scoreless tie at home in 2015.
ABOUT MCDANIEL
McDaniel enters the contest after a dominating 6-0 win at home over Gallaudet last Wednesday. The Green Terror pulled away with four second half goals, three of which came within four minutes of each other. McDaniel has outscored their opponents 11-1 in their first three games this season, and have outshot their opponents 53-12 in those games. The Green Terror is led by senior Raul Escobar, who leads the team in three major statistical categories. Escobar has tallied four goals thus far which already doubles his total from last season. Senior goalkeeper Nick Over has posted two shutouts thus far and holds a 0.33 GAA.
LEADING THE WAY
Albright junior midfielder
Anthony Parlato has paced the Lions in all the major offensive statistical categories so far this season. Through four games, Parlato has two goals and four points on 16 shots on net. His shot total ranks him tied for second in the MAC Commonwealth Conference, and his 4.0 shots per game ranks him fourth in the conference. The New York native had just 15 shots in all of last season, and has matched his goal total from last season in only four games. Parlato led the team in points last season, while being in a three-way tie for most goals on the team.
LAST GAME
The Lions battled to a 1-1 tie at Mount Aloysius on Saturday afternoon. Mount Aloysius opened the scoring to take a 1-0 lead in the 68th minute before Parlato responded with his second goal of the season just 12 minutes later off an assist from senior
Nathan Hughes. After the teams combined for just three shots in the first overtime, Albright created some chances in the second overtime, but ultimately had to settle for their first tie of the season. Lions sophomore goalkeeper
Billy Mullen registered a career-high 15 saves and allowed one goal in the tie while playing all 110 minutes.
