FREDERICK, Md. – The Albright Lions women's swimming team won nine of 11 events in their dual meet against Hood on Saturday afternoon as they cruised to a 149-39 on the road.
Seven of the nine event wins were individual with a pair of swimmers each posting two wins in the meet. Freshman Juli Hyatt earned wins in the 100 breaststroke and 1650 yard freestyle, while sophomore
Ashlyn Chermol picked up wins in the 500 yard freestyle and 200 yard freestyle. Along with those two swimmers, Senior
Dayne Martin earned a win in the 100 yard butterfly and sophomore
Sammy Murphy earned first place in the 100 yard freestyle, while freshman Maggie Jones won the 50 yard freestyle.
Hyatt posted the third best time in the MAC so far this season in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 18:16.27 before tallying a time of 1:11.97 in the 100 breaststroke. Chermol posted a time of 1:59.38 to win the 200 yard freestyle before registering the fourth best time in the MAC this season for the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:20.48. Martin tallied a time of 1:04.23 to win the 100 yard butterfly, while Murphy posted a time of 57.11 to win the 100 yard freestyle. Jones then registered a time of 26.17 to win the 50 yard freestyle
Albright also won both relay races as sophomores
Alexis Willis and
Jesse Zamora along with Martin and Jones posted a time of 2:01.34 in the 200 yard medley, while the 200 yard freestyle relay team of Chermol, Willis, freshman Anna Moffitt, and sophomore
Faith Guzzo tallied the win with a time of 1:47.29.
The Lions will return to the pool next on Saturday, January 13th when they will host Ursinus at the Natatorium for a 1 p.m. start.
