FREDERICK, Md. – The Albright Lions men's swimming team swept the 11 events in their dual meet against Hood on Saturday afternoon and earned a 176.5-24.5 win over the Blazers on the road.
Nine different Lion swimmers earned individual wins in the nine individual events on the day. Juniors
Jay Deschamps,
Sean Riddle, and
Conor Hassard all posted wins on the day, while sophomores
Teag Culver and
Adam Thron also tallied individual wins against the Blazers. Freshman Bryce Schaffer, Harrison Hunsberger, Corey Hausler, and Chris Laite rounded out the individual wins for the Lions during the meet.
Culver started off the day by earning his individual win in the 1650 yard freestyle with a time of 16:54.90 which is the second best time in the MAC this season for that event. Laite then posted a time of 1:50.87 to win the 200 yard freestyle, and Deschamps followed with a win in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.08. Hassard used a time of 2:07.70 to earn the win in the 200 yard IM, and Hunsberger posted a win in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 50.78. Schaffer would post the third best time in the MAC this season in the 100 butterfly with a time of 52.43, and Riddle came next with a win in the 100 yard backstroke after posting a time of 56.89. Thron and Hausler would round out wins in the 500 yard freestyle and 100 yard breaststroke, respectively. Thron tallied a time of 5:18.67 in the 500 while Hausler registered a time of 1:03.64 in the 100 breast.
The 200 yard medley relay team of Schaffer, Riddle, Senior
Tim Resch, and sophomore
Anthony Spanier posted a win in the event with a time of 1:43.62. Albright followed that up with the 200 yard freestyle relay team of Hunsberger, Riddle, Laite, and sophomore
Maliq Williams winning the event with a time of 1:30.80.
The Lions will return to the pool next on Saturday, January 13th when they will host Ursinus at the Natatorium for a 1 p.m. start.
