READING, Pa. – Freshman
Allyson Kraff captured both the 500 and 1,000 freestyle and the Albright Lions women's swimming team pulled away from Lycoming in a 119-83 victory over the Warriors to open the 2018-19 season in dual meet action on Saturday afternoon at the Albright Natatorium.
Kraff won the 1,000 freestyle in a time of 11:28.06 and touched the wall in 5:41.84 to take home the 500 freestyle. Kraff and classmate Maddie Werndl swept the top two spots in the latter event as Werndl finished in a time of 5:56.07.
Other individual winners for the Lions included junior
Alexis Willis in the 50 freestyle, freshman
Alaina Ricci (100 butterfly) and junior
Sammy Murphy in the 100 free. The relay team of Willis, Murphy, junior
Anna Moffitt and Ricci cruised through the 400 freestyle relay in 3:53.81 to close the meet in style for Albright.
Willis won the 50 freestyle in a time of 26.15 and Moffitt finished second in 26.79. Ricci claimed the top spot in a time of 1:04.61 in the 100 butterfly and took second in the 200 freestyle in 2:04.89, just .06 seconds behind Lycoming's Cara Zortman. Moffitt also placed second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:07.42. Murphy won the 100 freestyle in a time of 57.01 and freshman
Megan Fulton finished third with a time of 58.74.
Willis also recorded a second place finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:08.01, just over two seconds ahead of freshman
Bianca Wargo who finished third in 1:10.25.

Brooke Schlott and Murphy placed second in the 200 medley relay in a time of 2:07.65.
The Lions return to the pool with a dual meet at Widener on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m.
