GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Albright Lions women's swimming team earned a split at a tri-meet hosted by Messiah on Saturday afternoon. Albright defeated Misericordia 157-75, but lost to the host Falcons by a score of 163-93.
The Lions posted four individual wins on the afternoon, while tallying multiple top-five finishes as well in the meet. Freshman
Juli Hyatt tallied two wins in the meet as she scored victories in the 500 yard freestyle and in the 200 yard IM. Sophomore
Ashlyn Chermol earned a win in the 200 yard butterfly, and classmate
Alexis Willis posted a first place in the 50 yard freestyle.
Hyatt tallied a time of 5:20.10 to win the 500 yard freestyle, which is currently the fourth best time in the MAC for that event this season. She then followed that up with a time of 2:20.60 to win the 200 yard IM. Chermol posted a time of 2:13.51 to win the 200 yard butterfly, which is the fourth best time in the MAC this season. She now owns two top-five times in the conference for that event this season. Willis then registered a time of 25.63 to win the 50 yard freestyle, and later posted a second place in the 100 freestyle with a time of 57.09.
The Lions also had one relay team post a first place finish in the event as the 200 yard freestyle relay team of Chermol, Willis, freshman
Maggie Jones, and sophomore
Sammy Murphy posted a time of 1:41.53 which is the third fastest time in the conference. The 400 yard medley relay team of Willis, Hyatt, Chermol, and Jones posted a time of 4:13.20 to finish second in their respective event.
Albright will return to the pool in two weeks as they will compete in the MAC Championships at York, Pa. from Thursday February 15
th to Sunday February 18
th.
