YORK, Pa. – Junior
Maggie Jones led the way for Albright women's swimming with an individual sixth-place finish as the Lions competed on day one of the MAC Swimming Championships at the Graham Aquatic Center.
Jones earned a sixth-place finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.07, and her prelims time of 24.81 is the fifth-fastest time in Albright program history. Senior
Sammy Murphy competed in the B final of the 50 freestyle and placed 11
th overall with a time of 25.78.
The 500 freestyle kicked off the meet as junior
Juli Hyatt swam in the B final and first-year
Megan Misurelli swam in the C final. Hyatt placed 11
th overall and second in her final with a time of 5:26.61, as she dropped over seven seconds from her morning time. Misurelli also dropped time in the evening session for a personal-best of 5:28.63 to win the C final and earn 17
th overall.
Sophomore
Brooke Schlott placed 23
rd in the 200 IM after swimming a personal-best 2:24.09 in the C final this evening and dropping one second from her time in prelims.
Albright capped the meet off with a ninth place finish of 1:58.12 in the 200 medley relay by the team of
Alaina Ricci, Jessica Zamora, Misurelli, and
Amantle Mogara. The Lions' second relay of
Violet Shattuck,
Rachel Nye, Schlott, and
Caitlin Bedesem took 22
nd in a time of 2:04.80.
This morning, senior
Faith Guzzo beat her season-best time in the 500 freestyle after finishing in 5:53.84. Mogara set her personal-best in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.93 and Bedesem also set her personal-best at 27.92.
Albright sits seventh in the team standings with 120 points after day one, while Misericordia leads with 294 points and Stevens Institute of Technology follows with 257 points.
The 2020 MAC Swimming Championships will resume on Friday morning at 10 a.m.
