YORK, Pa. – Sophomore
Alaina Ricci led the Albright women's swimming team on day two of the MAC Swimming Championships after clocking the sixth-fastest time in school history in the 100 butterfly on Friday evening.
Ricci made the podium in the 100 butterfly with a fifth-place finish by clocking a 59.83, dropping over five seconds from her seed time.
Maggie Jones swam in the B final of the 100 butterfly to a 10
th place finish in the time of 1:01.71, her personal-best.
Senior
Sammy Murphy clocked a season-best time in the 200 freestyle with a 1:58.24 and earned sixth place overall in the event. First-year
Megan Misurelli swam in C finals to finish 19
th with a personal-best time of 2:03.78.
Sophomore
Brooke Schlott returned to B finals in the 400 IM and finished in a personal-best time of 5:01.26, dropping three more seconds from prelims. Senior
Jesse Zamora and junior
Rachel Nye both swam in C finals of the 400 IM. Zamora finished in 22
nd with a time of 5:12.73 in her first MAC Championships competing in the event. In 24
th, Nye swam a 5:17.23, which was over 20 seconds off her seed time.
The 200 freestyle relay of
Juli Hyatt,
Megan Misurelli,
Sammy Murphy, and
Maggie Jones placed fourth with a time of 1:41.01.
Amantle Mogara,
Caitlin Bedesem,
Rachel Nye, and
Brooke Schlott swam a 1:50.16.
Ricci, Hyatt, Jones, and Murphy swam the 400 medley relay in 4:10.00 to place seventh overall. The team of
Violet Shattuck,
Jesse Zamora, Schlott, and Mogara finished 18
th in a time of 4:30.88.
In the morning session, three swimmers dropped time in the 100 butterfly. Junior
Amantle Mogara finished 27
th with a season-best time of 1:07.54 and sophomore
Violet Shattuck also registered a season-best time of 1:08.80 for 29
th. Senior
Caitlin Bedesem finished 31
st with a best time of 2:11.20 in her first year swimming the 100 butterfly at MAC Championships.
Albright ranks seventh in the team standings with 335 points after day two, while Stevens leads with 628 points.
The 2020 MAC Championship will resume on Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
