Baltimore, MD - The Albright lions fell to the Notre Dame of Maryland Gators in four sets on Thursday night. The final score was 15-25, 25-18, 15-25, 19-25. The loss drops the Lions to 10-9 on the season, while the Gators move to 11-5.
The first set was back and forth to start, as the two teams were tied at six. The Gators then used a 7-0 run to take the lead. But the Lions answered with a 6-1 run of their own to make it 14-12. The Gators would end the set on an 11-3 run to take the set 25-15.
The second set saw the Lions take control early with a 7-3 lead. After Notre Dame went on a 7-0 run to take a lead, the Lions answered with a 5-0 run to take the lead, and they wouldn't give it up the rest of the set, winning 25-18.
In a pivotal third set, the two teams stayed close early on, with the Gators holding an 11-9 lead. They would then use a 6-0 run to grab a stranglehold on the set. The Lions were never able to get back in the set, as the Gators won 25-15.
The Gators would take the lead early in the fourth set by a score of 10-4. While the Lions would battle, they would be unable to get back into it, and the Gators won the set 25-19, giving them the match.
