FREDERICK, Md. - The Albright field hockey team (5-9, 2-4 MAC Commonwealth) was in action this Saturday afternoon on the road and defeated Hood 3-1(4-10, 0-6 MAC Commonwealth) in conference play. Dating back to 2012 Albright has now outscored Hood 48-6 in their last 10 meetings going a perfect 10-0 in that span.
Before fans were even in their seats Rayven Muller was scoring for Albright. Just 42 seconds into the game Muller opened the scoring to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. The goal was the first of Muller's collegiate career.
With a little over 10 minutes to play in the half the game looked poised to head to halftime with Albright in front by one goal. Olivia Lorah decided the lead was not enough as she scored just before halftime to double Albrights lead making it 2-0.
After neither side scored in the third quarter, Hood got on the board in the early going of the fourth quarter cutting the Blazer deficit in half.
There to stifle the Hood comeback attempt was Chelsea Johnson. Johnson's eighth goal of the year pushed the lead back to two and helped secure the 3-1 win for Albright.
Johnson was credited with an assist on the Lorah goal and Lamya Mejias was credited with an assist on the Johnson goal.
Coach Wiese had this to say after her team's third win in four games, "I am very proud of the girls for getting the job done and picking up another conference win. We created many attacking opportunities which is something we have been working on, so now we just need to capitalize more on those opportunities. Additionally, I am very impressed with our first year Rayven who scored her first goal today in the opening minutes of the game!"
