WIDENER RECAP

The Lions were on the road for the second straight game facing off against Widener. The Pride won the game 34-28 in a MAC battle. Widener jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the game. Albright got on the board courtesy of an Alex Gardsy 10-yard touchdown run. There were two touchdowns in the last minute of the first half, one by each team. Albright wideout Antwan Rogers Jr. hauled in a 23-yard pass from Gardsy making it 21-14 at the half in favor of Widener. The Pride scored once in the third and then a field goal and touchdown in the fourth to pull away from Albright. Rounding out the touchdowns for the Lions were Isaiah Shockley (23-yard TD run) and Gardsy added another 10-yard run for his second score of the game.

RUSHING ATTACK

Last week against Widener Albright rushed for 242 yards and three scores on the ground. The 242 yards are the most so far this season for Albright. The yardage total is also the sixth most by team in a game in the MAC this season.  In total, the Lions averaged 5.6 yards per rush this past weekend against Widener. Albright will need just two rushing yards on Saturday to eclipse the 1000-yard mark as a team.

THIS DAY IN HISTORY
Five years ago, the Albright football team defeated Wilkes by way of a fourth quarter comeback 26-23. Alec Vignola threw for 361 yards and two touchdowns. The second of Vignola's touchdowns gave the Lions the victory. On third-and-10 from the Wilkes 21, Vignola moved out of the pocket to his left, and he threw it on the move to Khari Jefferson in the back of the end zone. With the extra point, Albright had the 26-23 advantage with just 15 seconds left. Kyle Dickerson finished with 11 catches for 122 yards, and Jackson had nine catches for 130 yards. Jackson also made two special teams tackles. The Albright defense held firm to keep it as a one-possession game throughout. Five different Lions had interceptions in the game. The Albright special teams also blocked a kick for the second-straight week.

ALL PURPOSE YARDS

Albright running back Isaiah Shockley has been a bright spot so far this season for the Lions. Shockley can do it all out of the backfield running and catching the ball. The running back currently ranks 11th in the MAC in all-purpose yards. Shockley is averaging 81.9 all-purpose yards a game. He is one of 11 players in the conference to average at least 80.0 all-purpose yards per game or more. Shockley also has 45 kick return yards this season for good measure.

CAREER MILESTONES

Standout Linebacker Daniel Vital is closing in on 300 career tackles in an Albright uniform. The Senior currently has 288 tackles. Vital is averaging 10.0 tackles a game good for second in the MAC conference. With three games left to play Vital should secure the personal milestone by seasons' end. During last week's game against Widener Isaiah Shockley eclipsed the 1000-yard mark running the ball for his career. Only a sophomore and three games yet to be played in the 2022 season Shockley will look to add to his career total. Shockley rushed for 634 as a first-year player and has 368 yards so far this season.

FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON - FLORHAM PREVIEW

FDU-Florham comes into Saturday's game sporting a 4-3 overall record and a 2-3 MAC conference record. FDU-Florham is 2-1 in their last three games but lost last week on the road at Stevenson. The Devils have won the last three games against Albright. The recent success of FDU-Florham over Albright is new considering from 2009-2017 Albright won each game against FDU-Florham. Ryon Thomas is a player to watch for the Devils. Thomas was named MAC Offensive Player of the Week and to the D3football Team of the Week. Thomas awards came on the week of October 10 for the Devils. Saturday's game is Senior Day for FDU-Florham, their last home game of the year. FDU-Florham's last win on Senior Day came back in 2019. The Lions will look to play spoiler on the road.
