Volleyball Triumphant in Four Set Thriller

READING, Pa. - The Albright Volleyball team hosted Penn State Abington tonight at home in front of a highly energized crowd at the Bollman Center. Both teams came into the match tonight with win streaks of at least five games or more at one point this season. In a battle of two talented teams the Lions were victorious in four sets (22-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-19) over Penn State Abington. With the win, Albright improves to 10-5 overall and the loss drops PSU Abington to 8-3 overall.

The Nittany Lions took the opening set in a back and forth action. Albright got within two points but PSU Abington rallied late for the set win.

Sets two and three played out similarly for Albright. In the second and third sets Albright jumped out to at least a four point lead in the first 10 total points of the set. PSU Abington battled back and was able to tie the matches through the middle portion of the set. Albright retook control of each set and used late rallies to take a commanding 2-1 sets lead.

The match looked poised to go to a decisive fifth frame but Albright had other ideas. Through the first 15 points Albright found themselves down 10-5 and again down 16-11. After being down 16-11 Albright scored 14 of the next 17 points to win the set and take home the match. Rachel Etim was instrumental in the fourth set comeback tallying six kills in the set.

Etim finished the game with a game high and career high 16 kills. The Libero Shelby Cheuvront served the ball well all evening recording three aces. Cheuvront also added 17 digs to give her 600 digs in her Albright Career.

Paola Mejias recorded 41 assists in the four set thriller.

Albright now has 10 wins and counting on the season for the first time since 2019.
