FREDERICK, Md. - The Albright Volleyball team (10-6, 0-4 MAC Commonwealth) fell on the road against Hood College (5-10, 1-4 MAC Commonwealth) in five sets (19-25, 25-18, 25-21, 21-25, 12-15). The Lions have played back to back thrilling matches after a four set win over Penn State Abington on Monday.
The hosts took the first two sets of the match over Albright using late scoring streaks giving The Blazers the early lead.
The Lions however would roar back winning the next two sets to tie the match sending the game to a decisive fifth set.
Sophie Hampton and Rachel Etim were instrumental for the Lions in the third and fourth sets leading the comeback. Hampton tallied nine kills in the third and fourth sets. Etim had 10 kills in the two sets including back to back kills to win the fourth set. Hampton and Etim finished the match with 18 and 14 kills, respectively.
The comeback attempt however would fall just short as the Blazers won the fifth set to take the match.
Albright served the ball with purpose tonight recording only two service errors compared to Hood's 12. Shelby Cheuvront led the way with three aces and also added 30 digs giving her two 30 dig performances in her last three matches.
