Field Hockey Drops Home Match Against Messiah

READING PA. - The Albright Field Hockey team played host to Messiah on Saturday evening at Gene L. Shirk Stadium in a conference battle. The Falcons beat the Lions by a final score of 5-1. The result drops Albright to 2-6 overall. Messiah's win moves them to 6-2 overall.

In the early going Albright and Messiah exchanged shots on goal both being turned away by the opposing goalie. Megan Keller had the shot on goal for Albright.

The visitors scored in the first quarter just before the seven minute mark going up 1-0.

Messiah added another but Albright had an answer just 30 seconds later in the second quarter. A familiar name in the box score finds herself there once again in the form of Chelsea Johnson. Johnson's fifth goal of the season cut the Messiah lead in half making it 2-1.

Johnson's second quarter goal marks number 13 in her Albright career.

After a scoreless third period the Falcons would pull away late to secure the victory.

Albright will next take the field at home against The College of New Jersey. The game is set for Wednesday September, 28 at 4 p.m.
