READING, Pa. - The Albright women's volleyball team (13-6, 0-4 MAC Commonwealth) went on the road on Tuesday (Oct. 10) evening squaring off against cross town rival Alvernia (9-5, 2-2 MAC Commonwealth) in a MAC Commonwealth showdown. The Golden Wolves took the match 3-1 over the Lions.
The first set went to overtime in a back and fourth set to open the match. The Golden Wolves wound up winning the opening set 30-28.
Elon Ruley-Donadelle led Albright with three first set kills. A total of six different Lions recorded a first set kill.
Alvernia used the first set momentum to their advantage taking the second set in another back and fourth set 25-21.
The third set went to Albright 28-26 in the second overtime set of the match. The Lions got four kills each from
Sophie Hampton,
Olivia Berry and
Neve Straff to help push the match to a fourth set.
The fourth set proved to be the final set of the match with Alvernia winning 3-1 over Albright.
Straff and Berry both finished tied for a team high in kills with 11. In addition, Straff registered 24 digs and for Berry the 11 kills mark a new season high for the Junior outside hitter.
Hampton finished with nine kills and
Rachel Etim went for six kills, four aces and three digs.
Paola Mejias tallied 22 digs, five kills and 22 set assists and
Lindsey Korn led the team with 25 digs in the match.

The women's volleyball team will look to get back in the win column on Thursday (Oct. 12) night playing host to Penn State Scranton. The game is set for a 7 p.m. start.
