Women’s Swimming Returns to the Pool Against Moravian

The Albright women’s swimming team returned to the pool this afternoon against Moravian in a dual meet against the Greyhounds.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Albright women's swimming team returned to the pool for the first time in the new year squaring off against Moravian University. The Greyhounds won today's meet by a final score of 77-63.

After hosting their annual alumni meet last weekend, the Lions officially returned to the pool for the first time since November 17-19 at the York Invitational.

Laurel Gingrich was in action during the 50, 200 and 500-yard freestyle events. Gingrich went 3/3 on the day winning each event. In the 50-yard freestyle Gingrich turned in a time of 24.80, in the 200 a time of 1:59.95 and in the 500-yard free with a time of 5:19.58.

The 500-free time of 5:19.58 for Gingrich was the second fastest time of the season in MAC for the 500. Today was the first time Gingrich has swum the event in college.

Morgan Stuhltrager took to the pool in 100 & 200 backstroke and the 200 IM. Stuhltrager would not be denied in any of the events winning each one. In the 100 Stuhltrager finished in 1:04.51, in the 200 2:21.61. and wrapped up her strong day with a time of 2:22.59 in the 200 IM.

In the last event of the day for Stuhltrager got stronger winning the 200IM by over 20 seconds.

Ruth Castro competed in the 50, 100 and 200-yard freestyles. Castro finished the 50 in 36.26, the 100 in 1:25.04 and the 200 in 3:06.89.
 
Up Next:
Albright will have a couple weeks off before returning to action against Messiah on Saturday, February 3. The meet against Messiah is set for a 1:00 p.m. start time.
