READING, Pa. – Volleyball (12-3, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth) played their third straight home match and hosted Alvernia (8-7, 0-2 MAC Commonwealth). The Golden Wolves won sets three and four following a 2-0 start from the Lions. Ultimately the Lions would seal the win with strong play in set five.Â

In five sets the Lions scored 101 points to the Golden Wolves' 99 in what turned out to be one of their closest matches of the season.Â

One of the best moments of the match for the Lions came when they closed out set two with a 6-1 run to win by a score of 25-20.Â

Neve Straff led the Lions in Kills with 18 and also recorded a team high 19.5 points. Straff's 18 kills are a career high.Â

Joining Straff in having a career night was
Winniffer Rodriguez. Rodriguez's 32 digs were both a season high and the second time the sophomore has recorded double digit digs this season.Â

Rachel Etim and
Sophie Hampton both had 12 kills which was good for a tie for second on the team. Etim also recorded six total blocks on the night including three solo blocks.Â

Paola Mejias set up her teammates all night long with 41 assists. This is the third time this season the senior setter has recorded 40 or more assists in a game and currently sits at 420 for her season total.

Kayla Zelonka secured her first MAC Commonwealth victory. This win also serves as both the Lions' first MAC Commonwealth win and win over Alvernia since the 2019 season.Â
