YORK, Pa. – Albright volleyball (12-4, 1-2 MAC Commonwealth) played in their first MAC Commonwealth road match of the season against York College (Pa.) (6-12, 2-1 MAC Commonwealth) on Wednesday evening. The Spartans protected home court winning the match 3-1.
In the Lions last match, the team took down Alvernia 3-2 for their first win against the Golden Wolves since the 2019 season. Additionally, the win marked the first MAC Commonwealth win since the 2019 season for the Lions.
Tonight's match saw the Lions win the first set 25-18 behind seven total kills as a team. York would rebound after their first set loss and win the next three to win the match over Albright.
Sophie Hampton led with 10 kills marking her 11
th double digit kill effort of the season. In three MAC Commonwealth matches this season, Hampton has had at least 10 kills in each one.
Rachel Etim was solid defensively finishing the match with seven block assists. The seven blocks assists for Etim gives Etim a new career high.
Neve Straff had seven kills to go along with seven digs in an all-around solid effort.
Winniffer Rodriguez led the team with 11 digs. Rodriguez is coming off a career high 32 dig effort against Alvernia adding her third overall double-digit game of the season.
