WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Women's volleyball (7-2) won their third straight match on Thursday night in five sets over the Wilkes Colonels (1-6) 3-2. Albright used a 7-0 run in the middle of the fifth set to win the match.

Tonight's match was the second of the week for the Lions and the second match to go the full five sets. The Lions won both five set matches beating Cairn on Tuesday night.

With tonight's win, Albright has achieved three straight wins for the second time this season after opening the 2024 season going 4-0.  

The first set went to Albright with the next two going to Wilkes. After winning the fourth set, Albright was down 7-4 in the fifth and final set. Three straight kills tied the match at 7-7. Wilkes got it within two at 12-10 but two kills by Neve Straff and a Wilkes unforced error gave Albright the victory.

Sophie Hampton had another big game going for 16 kills and 16 digs. Hampton has been instrumental in the two Lion wins this week putting together back to back matches of at least 12 kills and 16 digs.

Straff closed the game and finished with her fourth straight double digit kill effort. Straff's 11 kills tonight gives the sophomore Lion double digit kills in seven of the nine total matches this season.

Lindsey Korn continues to be strong defensively recording 26 more digs tonight. Korn has back to back 20 plus dig games and is already up to an impressive 124 digs on the season.

Paola Mejias has been setting her teammates up all season and tonight was no different going for 36 assists. Mejias added 16 digs to her overall stat line.
