READING, Pa. – The Women's Volleyball team (2-0) played the later of their first two home matches tonight against Rutgers Newark (1-2). After four sets, the Lions beat the visiting Scarlett Raiders after winning the final three sets.
Rutgers Newark won the first set 25-22, with the Lions winning the final three by scores of 25-17, 25-16 and 25-21 respectively.
The Lions would go on to combine for 19 service aces with
Sophie Hampton leading the way with five. Hampton also led the team in points 20.5.
Rachel Etim and
Ryenn Mamrosch each picked up four solo aces of their own.
Hampton also led the way with a team high 14 kills.
Neve Straff joined her in double digit kills with 10 of her own along with Etim and
Carly Fincham each recording eight.
Fincham led the way for the Lions on defense registering two solo blocks and a block assist.
Paola Mejias recorded 33 assists and 16 digs which would wind up being good enough to lead the team in both categories.
Albright would close out the 4
th set in style with a 9-4 run, moving them to 4-1 all time against Rutgers Newark following this win.
