Fatima Rizvi Wins Albright Spring Invitational; Lions Finish 2nd Overall

Fatima Rizvi won the Albright Spring Invitational by five strokes on Wednesday afternoon at Golden Oaks Golf Club. The win is the second individual victory of the season for Rizvi.

FLEETWOOD, Pa. – The Albright women's golf hosted their annual Spring Invitational on Wednesday afternoon and saw one of their own earn low medalist honors. Fatima Rizvi won the tournament by five strokes for her second overall tournament win of the season. The field consisting of 29 total golfers battled as tough conditions as you can have playing through near freezing temperatures and high winds.

RESULTS

The overall course conditions were not favorable for the third week of April as the 29 golfers played in very cold weather and steady high winds. The tournament was played at Golden Oaks Golf Club with the golfers playing a total of 27 holes throughout the day.

As a team the Lions finished second out of six teams with a team score of 565 across the 27 holes. Hood won the tournament with a team total score of 538 and Arcadia finished in third place with a team score of 566.

The harsh conditions were no match for Rizvi who was able to navigate the course exceptionally well throughout the day. After the first nine holes of the day, Rizvi was in a tie for first place with a nine-hole score of 42. The second nine was even better for Rizvi shooting a 38 which was good for three strokes better than the next closest competitor. Rizvi only got better as the day went on closing out the tournament with a total score of 127.

The individual win is the second of Rizvi's career in just her first year as an Albright Lion. Rizvi won the Weyhill Classic back in September of 2024 and has yet to finish outside the top 10 in all eight events of the season.

Ilaria Catania earned a top 10 finish placing in solo seventh. Catania shot an opening nine holes round of 51 but did not let that score affect the rest of her afternoon. After the first nine, Catania was one of the best golfers in the field playing the second nine in 42 strokes and the third nine of the afternoon in 46 strokes for an overall 27-hole score of 139.

Callie Cooper took to the course for the first time this spring and played as well as you could ask for considering the conditions and the lack of golf played for Cooper. Cooper opened the tournament with first nine score of 53. The second and third nines of the day for Cooper were both played in 48 strokes to place T17 overall.

Braidan Wastler was just behind teammate Cooper, finishing three strokes behind her. Wastler came out of the gates on fire shooting a 45 in the opening nine holes. The round one score was good for eighth overall in the field. Wastler would end her day in T19 faring well overall, finishing less than 10 strokes behind the participants inside the top 10.
