READING, Pa. – Albright Volleyball (3-5) hosted Wilkes (8-3) prior to the start of a two-week road trip. After falling behind 2-0, the Lions rallied to win set three and take set four down to the wire before falling to the Colonels in four sets.
Neve Straff scored a season high 18.5 points which included 14 kills and four service aces and has now tallied double digit points in five of her last six matches.
Wilkes would take the first two sets by scores of 25-17 and a narrow 25-23 before taking a 21-15 in set three with a sweep seemingly inbound. What then followed was a 13-5 Lions run for a 28-26 win.
Set four saw the Lions start out hot and build up an 8-5 lead over the Colonels looking to force a fifth set. Even after falling behind 17-11, the Lions clawed back with a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to one and keep themselves within striking distance until the very end.
An 8-6 run by the Colonels was then enough to sneak out with a road win in four sets via a 25-22 victory.
Elon Ruley-Donadelle and
Korrine Tillery tied for second in points with 9.5 each while
Orianna Edmond recorded her first career kill and assisted on four blocks.
