Volleyball Competes in Tri-Match Against Delaware Valley and Lycoming

The Lions played in their second tri-match of the season on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Lycoming College.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Volleyball (3-7) competed in their second tri-match of the season on Saturday afternoon against Delaware Valley and Lycoming. The Lions dropped both matches falling to Delaware Valley 3-2 and Lycoming 3-1.
 
Game 1 vs Delaware Valley | L, 3-2

The first match of the day went the distance marking the third time this season Albright has gone to five sets. Albright won the first and fourth set and were edged out in the fifth set by the slimmest of margins dropping the fifth set 14-16.

Neve Straff and Samantha Lipp led the way with 14 kills apiece. Straff's 14 kills mark the fifth match this season the junior has recorded at least 14 kills in a match. For Lipp, the kill total is the highest output as an Albright Lion and the first time Lipp has gone over 10 kills this season. Lipp was also strong defensively tying her season high in digs with 24.

Valouria James tallied a career high in assists with 30 setting up her teammates all afternoon. James added six digs and four kills in the all-around solid match.

Isabella Garay recorded her second straight double digit dig effort with 15 this afternoon. Mackenzie David was the fourth Lion in the match to record 10 digs or more having 11 on the afternoon.

Lipp and David each had three service aces, Korrine Tillery was active all day having five block assists, two solo blocks, three digs and eight kills.
 
Game 2 vs Lycoming | L, 3-1

The teams split the first two sets of the match with Lycoming winning set one and Albright set two.

The Warriors won each of the next two sets to win the match. Lycoming won both of their matches this afternoon beating Delaware Valley 3-0.

Straff and Lipp once again led the way offensively for the Lions. Straff extended her double digit kill streak to six with 14 kills while Lipp turned in back-to-back double digit kill efforts with 10. Straff added a season high five aces in the service game.

Garay notched a new career high in digs with 20 bringing her season total to 129. James who is in her first-year with the Lions set a career best 11 digs this afternoon.

Elon Ruley-Donadelle was active on both ends of the floor finishing the match with three block assists and six kills.
 
Up Next:
The Lions will begin conference play next time the team returns to the court against Alvernia. The match is set for Wednesday, September 24 at Alvernia at 7 p.m.
