CHESTER, Pa. – Volleyball (3-4, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth) took on the Widener Pride (1-6, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth) for their first conference match of the season. With momentum swinging back and forth throughout the night, the Lions would fall on the road in four sets.
Neve Straff and
Lily Donovan led the way for the Lions and both finished with double digit points and combined for 20 kills. Straff's 39 total attacks led all players while Donovan was one of three Lions to end the night with double digit digs.
After the match's second set required overtime to decide, the Lions earned a victory in set by a score of 25-14. The Lions seized momentum right away and ultimately closed the set out with a 7-1 run which included multiple service aces from
Samantha Lipp. Lipp ended the day with a game high five services aces as part of a seven-point night.
The Lions continue to be prevalent on the defensive side of the net and tallied nine blocks.
Laura Ordakowski and
Alexis Akwara combined for five total blocks the night.
Paige Lipp put up 28 assists marking her fourth contest with 25 or more assists this season and continues on her march to 500.
A set four victory from the Pride was then ultimately enough to bring the Albright's winning streak to a close.
