Men's Soccer Second Half Comeback Falls Short at Etown

Box Score

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Down 2-0 with only one half left to play, the Lions (5-6-2/0-1 Commonwealth) led by sophomore forward #Mark Yost# nearly mounted a come from behind victory over the Blue Jays of Elizabethtown College (12-1/2-0 Commonwealth) Saturday afternoon.

Unfortunately their best efforts fell just short against the regionally ranked Blue Jays as Etown pulled out a 3-2 win conference win.

Yost, who got Albright back into the game late in the second half assisted the Lions first goal of the night, then scored his own about six minutes later. Netting the red and white's first goal of the night was #Matt Davis# in the 68th minute.

Even though they trailed Etown in shots and corner kicks, the Lions proved that they are more than capable of competing with some of the best team's in the Commonwealth Conference.

Yost led the red and white with two shots in the match, while three other Albright players contributed on offense as well. For the Blue Jays, their first two goals came in the opening minutes of the first half. The first of which was netted at the five minute mark. Elizabethtown then made it 2-0 about 20 minutes later.

After the halftime break, the Blue Jays tacked on one more score to take what they thought was a comfortable 3-0 lead. However they were deeply mistaken, if they thought Albright was going to lie down and die. The Lions quickly mounted an offensive of their own scoring their first goal of the match a minute after Etown's third.

The game would then turn into a back and forth battle, as Albright tried everything in their power to surge ahead on the scoreboard. They nearly pulled it off after Yost netted his first goal of the night in the 75th minute.

With a sense of panic taking over, Elizabethtown did everything they could to stop the surging Lions. With time in their favor, the Blue Jays managed to hang on to their slim lead to earn the victory.

Freshman goalkeeper #Ryan Barr# played all 90 minutes Saturday evening and tallied a game high seven saves.

Men's Soccer returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to Arcadia University for a 3:30 p.m. Commonwealth Conference match.
