DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - In what was said to be the biggest match-up of the 2009 season, the previously undefeated #18 Lions (8-1/5-1 MAC) traveled to #20 Delaware Valley College (8-1/6-0 MAC) where they were handed their first loss of the season by the final score of 45-16 at James Work Memorial Stadium Saturday afternoon.
The victory which marked the seventh straight for the Aggies over the Lions also secured them the 2009 Middle Atlantic Conference championship and the conference's NCAA tournament automatic bid. On the day the Lions offense were held to 306 yards of total offense, while the Aggies posted 426 yards of total offense.
Albright was held scoreless through the first three quarters of play for the first time this season, during which time the Aggies tallied 31 unanswered points of their own. Leading Delaware Valley's offense was Matt Cook with a pair of rushing touchdowns and one touchdown reception.
Quarterback Mike Isgro also commanded the field totaled 163 passing yards with his lone touchdown pass finding Cook in the opening minutes of the second quarter. Combined Isgro was 11-for-18 and was sacked only once by Albright's #
Chris Meccariello#.
Chad Peterman led the Aggies in total receiving yards with 49 yard on four catches, and Cook was the team's leading rusher with 97 total yards on 15 carries.

Scott Pillar# each accounted for an Albright touchdown in the fourth quarter and combined for 120 yards on 11 catches respectively.

Tanner Kelly# totaled 290 yards in the air and was 34-for-51 and only surrendered one interception. Proving to be the major back breaker for the Lions offense was the six sacks, and the 16 total rushing yards.

Clif LeGrand# closed out Saturday's game with a team best 12 rushing yards all of which he recorded on the game's final drive.

Brendan Bresnahan# tallied a team high eight stops, while the Aggies Charles Squitiere recorded a game best 10 tackles. A total of six Aggie players each earned a sack on Saturday, with Mike Jaskowksi leading the afternoon in the tackles for a loss category with 2.5 for -13 yards.
Albright also led the contest in total first downs, 21-20 and possessed the ball for over 33 minutes of the contest. However, Delaware Valley dominated Saturday's match-up from start to finish on both sides of the ball.
Through the first 15 minutes of play, the Aggies put up 14 unanswered points, which was then followed up by a 10 point second quarter. They then added some more breathing room to the scoreboard in the third quarter with a touchdown, to jump out to a 31-0 lead.
In the final quarter, Albright ended their scoring drought with 6:25 left to play on a Caldwell TD reception. Delaware Valley responded on their next drive which brought the clock down to 3:40 and gave them a 38-8 lead.
With less than two minutes to go, Kelly connected with Pillar for the Lions final score of the afternoon to make it 38-16. Looking to get the ball back one last time, the red and white went for the on-sides kick, but that plan back fired as Squitiere picked the ball up and returned it 36 yards for the final touchdown of the afternoon, and secured the 45-16 win.
Football will host Lebanon Valley next Saturday at Shirk Stadium at 1 p.m. Prior to the start of next Saturday's contest Albright will honor their senior members.
