READING, Pa. - In another close contest, the Men's Soccer (4-4-2) prevailed for the second time this week, this time defeating Frostburg State University (4-4-1) by the final score of 1-0 Saturday afternoon at Shirk Stadium.
The loan score which was netted in the 26th minute on an unassisted play by #
Matt Davis#, proved to be just enough. Setting up the Davis goal, initially was sophomore forward #
Mark Yost# who drilled a host off the goalkeepers hands. Unable to secure the ball, #
Chas DeSanto# crashed the net to try and knock the ball in.
The ball skipped past DeSanto and took a high bounce where Davis was able to push it past the wild Frostburg defense to break the scoreless draw. On the day, the Lions offense totaled nine shots, while Frostburg recorded 17 of their own.
In goal for the Lions, freshman #
Ryan Barr# had another solid afternoon in only his second career start. Barr now has a 2-0 record on the year, and totaled seven saves to earn his first career shutout.
Saturday's match was definitely a physical battle on both sides as a total of 29 fouls were called. Frostburg managed to lead the match in corner kicks tallying 10 on the day, while Albright managed nine.
Men's Soccer returns to action next Saturday when they host Lancaster Bible at 8 p.m. in Shirk Stadium as part of the 2009 Homecoming.
