READING, Pa. - Led by senior forward #Gloria Alfonsi# and freshman #Alexa Talbot# the Lady Lions (3-5-1) picked up a huge 3-0 non-conference win over Lancaster Bible College (2-6-1) Tuesday evening at Shirk Stadium.
Alfonsi started the evening off on a great note netting both of her goals within the first 15 minutes of the match. Talbot closed out Tuesday's game with the third and final score of the night in the 64th minute.
The Lions dominated play from start to finish, as they looked to bounce back after a very tough loss to Rutgers-Camden less than 24 hours ago. Albright showed great discipline as they moved the ball through the middle third.
For the first 20 minutes of the match, the ball never made it passed the Lions defense. Sophomore goalkeeper #Olivia Giuliano# had to come up with just one save in her 70 minutes of playing time. Freshman #Laura Kokolus# played the final 20 minutes of Tuesday's contest and did not have to make a save in the shutout victory.
Producing the Chargers only shot on goal was Jenna Godwin in the early moments of the second half.
Albright ended the night with a season best 23 shots and 11 corner kicks. Lancaster Bible tallied just two shots and was not allowed a corner kick all night.
Chargers goalkeeper Kirsten Shoemaker did an excellent job against a very physical Albright team. Combined she made 12 saves and played the entire 90 minutes.
Women's Soccer returns to action this Saturday when they host Messiah College at 6 p.m. in Shirk Stadium.
