ASTON, Pa. – Women's soccer (0-2-2) went on the road for their second straight match on Wednesday afternoon facing the Neumann Knights (2-3-1) in non-conference action. Neumann scored three second half goals to propel them to a 4-3 victory.
Today's game featured seven total goals marking the highest scoring game of the year for both teams. Neumann opened the scoring in the first half before Albright tallied two goals of their own to take a 2-1 lead into the break.
Brylie Jensen got the Lions on the board first in the closing minutes of the first half.
Jamie Murray assisted combining with fellow first-year Lion on the play. The goal was the first career goal for Jensen and the assist was the first career assist for Murray.
Just three minutes later the Lions found their second goal of the contest this time courtesy of
Kassidy Phillips. Murray tallied the assist for her second assist on the day. Murray's helper allowed Phillips to score her first career goal as a Lion.
Neumann came out strong in the second half and built their lead to 4-2 by the 62
nd minute of play.
With three minutes left on the clock, Albright looked to make a comeback. Jensen collected a through ball and did the rest to score her second goal of the game and bring the Lions within one. With 10 seconds to go in the game, Albright had a corner kick, but it was turned away from the Neumann defense to allow the Knights to escape with a win.
Jensen led the team in shots with five and was followed by
Haley Denuto and
Abigail Landis who each had two shots.
