Game One Box Score

Game Two Box Score

AUBORNDALE, Fl. – To say the least, the Albright Lions (3-6) had themselves quite the afternoon against the Prairie Fires of Knox College (Ill.). Combined the red and white posted 26 runs, 26 hits, and allowed only four errors in what turned out to be a near 6 ½ hour doubleheader Wednesday afternoon.

The back-to-back wins were a much needed boost for the Lions after taking yesterday off from competition. As a whole the Lions fired on all cylinders both at the plate and in the field. Junior transfer Jojo Fischer definitely broke out of his slump as he had a career day totaling four hits, four RBI's, and three runs scored respectively. He also tallied a pair of stolen bases as well in game one of the doubleheader as well

Fischer also picked up a sacrifice fly, and managed a triple in game one and a double in game two. Also having himself a day was Pat Brady, who not only made an appearance on the mound, but totaled five hits, three RBI's and three runs scored.

On the hill, Kevin Butler picked up the victory in game one, which went into 10 innings and eventually ended with a 7-6 victory for the Lions. Scoring the game winning run in that contest was Brady, who was driven in on a sacrifice fly by Fischer.

In game two the win went to Kevin Thomas after dealing three complete innings. Albright truly dominated the second game posting a season high 19 runs in just seven innings of play.

Back to the opener, Albright led throughout a majority of the afternoon, but in the top of the seventh, Knox managed to even the score at 6-6 on a bases loaded hit by pitch.

Unable to get the game winning run in the bottom half of the seventh the two teams battled back and forth through the eighth and ninth frames. In the top of the 10th, Butler was dominant retiring two of the three batters he faced.

Moving into the bottom of the 10th, Brady led the inning off with a single up the middle. After a strikeout, Justin Danser got on base after getting hit by a pitch, which put Brady in scoring position.

The hero of Monday's game against St. Norbert, Rob Mancinelli loaded the bases after an error by the shortstop. With the bases juiced Fischer stepped up to the plate, and on the very first pitch, he crushed the ball to deep right field.

Brady quickly got to the bag, and the second the ball was caught, was off and running towards home plate. By the time Knox had gotten the ball into the infield, the Lions were already celebrating the huge win.

After a short intermission, the two teams retook the field for game two, which quickly became an offensive onslaught by the Lions. Albright posted 15 hits in the nightcap to earn their first sweep of the season.

Baseball will close out their spring trip tomorrow afternoon when they take on Ramapo College (NJ) at 3 p.m.
