NEWTOWN, Pa. – The Middle Atlantic Conference announced their All-Conference baseball teams. Six Lions received All-Conference recognition in the form of
Josh Tudor,
Chris Gorla,
Tommy Lewman,
Anthony Knight,
Michael Avino and
Tyler Boccelli.
Tudor was named First Team All-Commonwealth, Gorla and Lewman were named Second Team, while Knight, Avino and Boccelli each received Honorable Mention status.
Tudor picked up a team best four wins over the course of 43 innings across 10 appearances including seven starts. Tudor picked up wins in each of his first two appearances this season including allowing one run across seven innings against Lebanon Valley (3/6). He also went over the 100 career striekout threshold this season.
Gorla appeared in 36 games with 35 starts and put together a .323 batting average and finished third on the team in RBIs with 26. Gorla's 100
th career hit came in the form of driving in the game winning RBI against Hood (4/24). The Junior also tied the team lead in homeruns with four.
Lewman led the team in RBIs and extra base hits while ranking in the top 10 in the conference in both batting average and OPS. Lewman also surpassed the career milestone of 100 hits against Alvernia and recorded 15 multi-hit games throughout the season.
Knight made an immediate impact in his first collegiate season making 36 starts and finishing second on the team in both batting average and RBIs while putting together a .992 fielding percentage. In the team's win over Penn St.-Berks (3/29) Knight went a perfect three for three at the plate and drove in four runs.
Avino made 38 starts and scored a team best 42 runs while putting together the best stolen base percentage (.900) in addition to a .315 batting average. Avino recorded back-to-back three hit games in the team's series win against Alvernia including three doubles.
Boccelli put together career highs across the board including 37 starts while tying Gorla and Lewman for the team lead in homeruns with four. Boccelli picked up three hits on senior day including a homerun and ended his collegiate career with an eight-game hitting streak.
This marks the second time in as many seasons the Lions have had six players named All-Conference under coach
Justin Perry's leadership.
