NEWARK, N.J. – Even with a pair of goals by freshman #
Gibrilla Conde#, the Lions (2-2) were unable to hang on as the Rangers of Drew University (4-0) scored a game-winning goal with less than seven minutes to play to hand the red and white their second straight loss by the final score of 3-2 Sunday afternoon at the Scarlet Raiders Tournament.
Conde's two goal performance got started early Sunday afternoon, as he netted the first goal of the match in the third minute. He would then equalize the game in the 39th minute on hard shot from about 15 yards out. Assisting Conde on the then game-tying goal was freshman #
Tyler Waters#.
#Matt Kirkpatrick# assisted Conde on his first goal after dropping a long pass behind the Rangers defense, which gave Conde a one-on-one breakaway with the keeper.
Following the early goal by the Lions, Drew quickly tied the score at 1-1 less than five minutes later. They then took their first lead of the afternoon 24th minute on a header goal by Drew's Matthew Gragano.
After evening the score at 2-2, Albright and Drew would exchange shots throughout the final 20+ minutes of regulation. With time quickly winding down in regulation, Drew took advantage of a loose ball rebound in the box, which they turned into the go-ahead score.
On the after, the Lions totaled 10 shots, while Drew recorded 20 shots of their, 13 of which came in the first half. Drew entered Sunday's match-up ranked 10th in the Mid-Atlantic Region on the most recent NSCAA/Hendrickcars.com Regional Poll.
