Box Score
In a defensive battle where opportunities were hard to come by, the Albright College women's soccer team (6-2-3, 1-1-1) scored late to earn a 1-1 conference draw against the visiting Dutchmen of Lebanon Valley College (9-3-3, 2-0-1) on Wednesday evening at Shirk Stadium.
Down 1-0 with 8:30 left in the game, Albright's
Jena Muller sent in a corner.
Jordan Cassidy flicked the cross and
Stephanie Przybyszewski finished, tying things up at 1-1. The goal was Przybyszewski's third of the season.
In the first half, Albright keeper
Olivia Giuliano kept things scoreless with big saves on two separate occasions. In the 23rd minute, Lebanon Valley's
Sara Drabenstadt sent in a dangerous cross to the feet of
Nicole Snyder, but Giuliano came off her line to smother the ball just in time.
Lebanon Valley again threatened with 17 minutes left to play.
Heather Tran picked up a loose ball and sent in a lofting shot to the far corner. Giuliano was again up to the task as she tipped the ball over the bar.
The Dutchmen would strike first as the second half began. A minute and a half into play, Snyder beat two Albright defenders to a through ball and sent a shot over Giuliano's head to give Lebanon Valley a 1-0 lead on her 14th goal of the season.
The score remained the same after Przybyszewski's goal through the end of regulation. Neither side threatened in the two overtime sessions and the game would end in a draw.
Lebanon Valley outshot Albright 18-7, and both sides recorded five corner kicks on the night. Snyder led the Dutchmen with three shots on goal, and Cassidy had a team-high three shots for the Lions.
Giuliano finished the contest with eight saves, while Lebanon Valley's Sami Young made two stops.
Women's soccer will take the field on Saturday when they travel to crosstown rival and conference opponent Alvernia University at 1 p.m.
