Despite sophomore
Tyler Waters' goal, the Albright College men's soccer team couldn't fight back from a 2-0 halftime deficit as the Lions fell 2-1 to local rival Alvernia on Saturday.
Waters' goal came in the 51st minute, as the midfielder beat a defender before slotting into the left corner.
Albright had dug itself a 2-0 hole at the break, after goals by Alvernia's
Nick Fore and
Giuliano Caloiero.
Waters and senior
Matt Davis each had chances late that were saved by Alvernia's
Ben Diller. Freshman
Tim Compton made his first career start in goal for the Lions, stopping seven shots in the loss.
Albright falls to 5-8, 0-4 and will host defending national champion Messiah on Wednesday.
