Box Score
#
Chris Tadley# was the perfect target man in his final collegiate game, winning a string of headers to lead the Albright College men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over visiting Widener, Monday at Shirk Stadium.
The Lions celebrated Senior Day, the final home game for Tadley and classmates #
Matt Davis#, #
David Folino#, #
Adam Toroniewski# and #
Mark Yost#.
In the 13th minute, Tadley won a blooping header that almost dropped down, but hit the top of the crossbar and went out of play.
Four minutes later, #
Joe Carrubba# crossed and Tadley found some open space in the box, winning another header that this time skipped past the Widener keeper and into the net.
Tadley made things happen with his head again just after halftime, knocking down a ball that classmate Folino eventually forced in for a 2-0 lead.
Toroniewski then crossed the ball and Tadley knocked it down again, but this time sophomore #
Tyler Waters# fired high from inside 10 yards.
Earlier, Waters had controlled a first half bouncing ball and played it outside to freshman #
Vitali Zaluha#, who flashed his shot just wide of the far post.
Late in the half, #
Lamar Stewart# almost crossed to #
Kory Reddick# out in front of the goal, but Widener goalkeeper
Ryan Frantz managed to smother the chance.
Derek Brubaker had Widener's best chance, hitting a volley off a corner kick that forced a great tip save from Barr.
Frantz made an incredible triple-save with ten minutes remaining. First he stopped
Kory Reddick on a wide-open break away, then stoned Toroniewski with the net wide open after Waters had broken free around the left end. That rebound came out to #
Chris Bucks#, whose 25-yard hit was palmed away by a diving Frantz.
The Lions end their season with a 7-11 record overall, and a 1-6 mark in Commonwealth Conference play.
