Albright Football Earns Nine All-MAC Selections

The Middle Atlantic Conference has announced its 2011 All-Conference football team, and nine Lions have been included on the team, including four first-team selections.

Seniors Marty Reinhardt, Scott Pillar and Brooks Mitzkewich were first team All-MAC selections, along with junior Matt Pattison.

Seniors Stu Grogan, Taylor Howes, Francis Hall, junior Jake Bentsen and senior Eric Wade were all named to the second team.

Scott Pillar, a wide receiver, led the MAC in receptions (60), receiving yards (1051) and touchdown receptions (12). He was twice named to the MAC Team of the Week, in addition to a BSN National Player of the Week selection following his 220-yard, 3-TD performance vs. Wilkes.

Marty Reinhardt earned the first-team fullback spot with his bruising style, compiling 206 yards on 52 carries, an average of 4.0 yards despite being used mostly in short-yardage situations. He rushed for three touchdowns, including two in a victory over FDU-Florham.

Matt Pattison, a defensive lineman, tied for the team lead with 4.5 sacks and totaled a team-best 12 tackles for a loss, ranking him fifth in the MAC. He forced two fumbles and had 38 tackles on the season.

Brooks Mitzkewich led the MAC in punting by a wide margin, with his average of 42.1 yards per punt registering as the fourth-best total in the history of the conference. He was second in the nation with two games remaining in the season but is currently short of the necessary minimum number of punts to rank nationally. Mitzkewich put nine kicks inside the 20 with just four touchbacks and no blocks. He also handled kickoffs and was twice named a MAC Player of the Week.

The Albright offensive line had a great year and earned some much-deserved recognition on the second team. Center Stu Grogan, guard Jake Bentsen and tackle Taylor Howes were all included, as was sophomore tight end Eric Wade (nine catches, 133 yards).

Defensive end Francis Hall was Albright's final selection after the senior totaled 28 tackles including two sacks and 7.5 tackles for a loss. This was the second consecutive All-MAC selection for both Hall and Grogan.

Delaware Valley's Jim Clements won his third consecutive Coach of the Year award, and DVC QB Aaron Wilmer won Rookie of the Year. Ben Guiles of Lebanon Valley was the Offensive Player of the Year and Lycoming's Anthony Marascio was named Defensive Player of the Year.
