Lions Struggle on Day Two of Spring Trip

Game 1 Box Score

Game 2 Box Score

WINTER HAVEN, Florida – On the second day of their spring trip, baseball (1-6) fell to a very tough opponent in Dickinson College (9-1) by the scores of 10-1 and 9-0 in a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday at Chain of Lakes Stadium.

In the morning game of the doubleheader, Kevin Thomas took the hill for the Lions. He surrendered seven runs in three innings of work, but only two of those runs were earned as two errors hurt Albright in the second and third innings. Michael Grantham and Doug Mace finished the game out of the bullpen for the Red & White. Mace struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings of work.

Albright only recorded three hits in game one. Seniors Rob Mancinelli and Kyle McGee and freshman Peter DeFancisci all produced singles, while Jojo Fischer produced the Lions lone RBI on a groundout in the third inning.

The second game of Sunday's doubleheader would also be a struggle for the Lions. Freshmen Brian Kurtz and Collin Hecker combined to pitch the complete seven-inning game. Hecker was effective in his three innings pitched out of the bullpen as he gave up just one run.

After a productive Saturday against McDaniel College, Justin Danser ripped two more singles in game two on Sunday for the Lions. Also producing hits for Albright in the afternoon game were Nate Peiffer and Tom Canuso.

Dickinson received two tremendous pitching efforts from Will Daley and Sean White. Daley struck out five in a complete-game performance and gave up just one unearned run. In game two, White struck out 15 in a complete-game shutout.

On the offensive side, James Santoro and Bart Marchant each produced two RBI in game one for the Red Knights. Santoro would also finish with two RBI in game two while ending the day 5-for-8 from the plate. Dickinson's Tyler Rosa was another offensive catalyst as he went 4-for-4 in game two with two RBI and two runs scored.

Baseball will now have a day off before returning to action on Tuesday for a doubleheader against Clarkson University.
